FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

wHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR PRACTICE?

I focus on the whole person in his/her contemporary state. Whether the concern is strictly art or healing related, or somewhere in between, I look at a person's real time circumstances, their short and long-term goals, beliefs, emotions, health challenges, and spiritual awareness and that informs the way in which I advocate and partner with them to establish the quality of life and sustainable wellness they desire. My practice utilizes a number of healing modalities and leverages accumulated art world professional experience and networks.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a practitioner of three African diasporic, specifically Afro-Cuban, spiritual traditions known as Lukumi, Palo Mayombe, and Espiritismo Cruzado. I possess the title Yaya Nkisi Malongo conferred through initiation into Palo Mayombe by my godmother Teisha Shaw. I am a Reiki practitioner attuned to levels I and II also by Ty Shaw. I am an uninitiated omo orisa in the Lukumi tradition under the mentorship of Sabrina Davis-Parham. Additionally, I possess a BA in Latin American, Latino & Caribbean Studies from Dartmouth College and an MA in International Relations & Diplomacy from Leiden University. I maintain proficiency in French, and near native level fluency in Spanish, and Portuguese. I have, for the past four years, worked as Manager of Public Programs at the Frye Art Museum, and also an independent essayist & curator.

Do you offer classes?

What is your typical process for working with a new client?

SHOULDN'T SPIRITUAL WORK AND OTHER KINDS OF WELLNESS PRODUCTS BE CHEAP, IF NOT FREE?

Professional healers invest significant time, money, and in-kind resources to acquire and maintain the knowledge and training they offer to their clientele. Any healer who is actively advocating for and assisting in the healing of others, must consistently take care of their own spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being. This too costs time and money. The quality of service that a healer offers his or her clients, is reflected in the pricing. Each client case is treated as singular and accorded the highest level of care and attention.

What if i don't live in or near seattle?

Most healing services can be performed regardless of location. If necessary, I can make arrangements to travel to the client. If you would like to invite me to speak, please review this page before sending your inquiry.
